Summary

The Director of Pharmacy (DOP) is a unique role that oversees pharmacy operations, compliance, and medication related services for multiple correctional facilities. This position requires autonomy, ability to identify problems, and create solutions. This individual works closely with nursing leadership from each facility to maintain daily operations and implement process improvements. The DOP directly reports to the FirstClass Healthcare (FCH) Vice President of Clinical Operations, however there is collaboration across all levels of leadership given the vast scope of FCH’s pharmacy operations.

The Director of Pharmacy is a hybrid position with work locations including in-facility requirements, corporate office, and remote work. In-facility requirements are top priority and dependent on the needs of each individual facility.

The position requires the ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds. There are varying amounts of standing & walking, sitting, and frequent close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing, etc.). Physical demands may vary depending on the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with nursing leadership to manage each correctional facility pharmacy coordinator or equivalent position
Develop and implement nursing-led pharmacy operations
Procurement strategies
Distribution
Inventory management
Develop and maintain
Policies and procedures
Standard operating procedures
Protocols
Guidelines
Provider and staff education
Co-Chair of the Governance, Pharmacy and Therapeutics (GPT) Committee
Internal Quality Improvement Program (IQIP)
Leadership and mentor for pharmacy and patient safety program
Formulary management
Review and complete provider non-formulary requests
Perpetual review of formulary additions and removals
Drug cost analysis
Create and maintain third party vendor partnerships for current and future programs
Community re-entry medication bridging program
Medication reconciliation solution
Clinical References and Drug Information solutions
Ensure compliance is maintained and documented
Completion of quarterly pharmacy inspections
Update and maintain financial reports consistent with any contract-related changes

Minimum requirements:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Licensed pharmacist in the state of Georgia
5 years or more of hospital pharmacy experience in a clinical or management position with experience in operations, policy development, and an active member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Ability to travel to various facilities within the Atlanta metropolitan area with occasional travel outside of Atlanta metropolitan area

Preferred qualifications:

Completion of a Pharmacy Postgraduate Year 1 residency or equivalent years of experience preferred
