What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Answer phone calls concerning various Release of Information (ROI) issues
Respond to walk-in customers requesting medical records and log information into the ROI On-Line database
Process requests from physician offices on a priority basis and fax information as needed
Log and scan medical record requests into the ROI On-Line database

What Is Required (Qualifications)

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of one year of experience entering data into computer systems
Strong verbal communication skills with demonstrated success in responding to customer inquiries
Proven ability to work independently and meet established production goals
Prior work experience in Release of Information in a physician’s office or Health Information Management (HIM) Department is a plus

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

Knowledge of medical terminology
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
Proven track record of dependability in previous roles
