Position Summary

The HIT Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our technical Electronic Medical Records solutions. This position requires a strong background in network building and maintenance, expertise in Electronic Medical Records systems, and overall IT support. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and secure management of health information systems to support our mission of providing high-quality healthcare to our community. The ideal candidate will be adept at troubleshooting and ensuring seamless IT operations with the Electronic Medical Records.

Essential Functions

Provide technical support and training to staff on the use of health information systems and network resources. Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues promptly.
Obtain superuser status with the organization’s EMR.
Provide technical support and training for staff regarding the EMR system.
Design, develop, and maintain robust network infrastructures to support the health center’s operations.
Ensure network reliability, security, and scalability.
Implement and enforce data security protocols to protect patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
Manage system upgrades and updates to ensure the health center’s technology remains current and effective.
Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to understand their IT needs and provide solutions that enhance their workflows and patient care.
Ensure all IT operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant healthcare standards.
Maintain accurate records of network configurations, system changes, and troubleshooting steps.
Collecting feedback from users about the technologies' performance and working with developers or vendors to make necessary changes and improvements.

Additional Requirements

Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
Complete all required training as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
Adhere to all policies within the organization and those outlined within the SCCC Employee Handbook.
Comply with all SCCC Vaccine Mandates.
Willingness to travel and work at other SCCC locations as determined by the supervisor.
Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely.

Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities when applicable.
Previous OCHIN/EPIC implementation experience

Education/Experience

Must Haves to be successful:

Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong EMR background with experience in healthcare IT.
Knowledge of FQHC operations and healthcare workflows.
Minimum of 3 years experience in IT support.
Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting EMR systems.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills required.
Customer service oriented.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience in networking.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft products.
Ability to set up/troubleshoot audiovisual solutions.
Strong aptitude to prioritize issues.
Ability to read, write, and clearly speak the English language.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with multiple linguistic variables.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, self-directed, and organized.
Ability to reason objectively.
Ability to handle a variety of duties that may be interrupted or changed by immediate circumstances.
Ability to work well in a high-stress environment.

Nice To Haves

A+ certification preferred. (CPHIMS, RHIT, CompTIA Network+, CCNA)
Management of Active Directory, Office 365 preferred, SQL.
Ability to speak Spanish (bilingual) is preferred.

The work environment is in a healthcare setting and can be fast-paced and involves working directly with patients and healthcare professionals. The individual may also work in a clerical setting.
