Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The UNC - NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering stresses the application of science and engineering, mathematical analysis, and computer techniques to biomedical problems. The research and entrepreneurship of the faculty, students, and staff aim to accumulate, generate, and disseminate biomedical engineering knowledge to improve health care for the benefit of the people of North Carolina, the nation, and the world.

Position Summary
The Applied Biomechanics Laboratory (abl.bme.unc.edu) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a Research Scientist position to help lead an interdisciplinary and cross-institutional effort to advance the use of High-Speed Biplane Fluoroscopy in studying the musculoskeletal biomechanics of functional human movement. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute a strong technical skillset in biplane fluoroscopy to a collaborative team spanning Biomedical Engineering, Exercise Science, and Orthopedics. There will also be opportunities for the successful candidate to generate novel lines of research in support of their own training and professional development. . The position is funded for an initial period of 2 years with anticipated extension contingent on continued training and professional development of the research scientist, including involvement of the successful candidate on collaborative proposals and fellowship applications associated with biplane fluoroscopy research projects.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Strong technical and hands-on experience incorporating biplane fluoroscopy/video radiography in human subjects research.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Completion of an M.S. degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or completion of a Ph.D. in an area related to engineering, biomedical imaging, orthopedics, or biomechanics.
