Pay Rate: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on background and experience
RADIAS Health is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to join the operations team. The
Medical Records Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing medical records and ensuring compliance with health information regulations. This position is responsible for organizing both electronic and physical medical records, responding to requests for information, and maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA and Minnesota Statutes.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
- The position is hybrid and works two days in the office and three days from home**
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for general organization of administrative office; maintains files/forms/records, performs scanning and attaching documentation into electronic record keeping systems
- Manage the Records Request email inbox and electronic fax
- Perform quality assurance for requests to ensure requests are valid and appropriate
- Monitor, track and respond timely to all internal and external requests for information
- Manage and communicate information to the appropriate programs regarding alerts from the MNEAS system
- Respond and coordinate e-filing
- Communicate and consult as needed with appropriate staff to ensure the information released is accurate, within the limits of the request and/or reviewed and approved by the appropriate supervisor
- Make and document any necessary redactions as directed
- Securely mail/fax/email/upload information to the requestor.
- Scan and attach requests for information and appropriate PHI Disclosure documentation into the individual's EHR
- As applicable, support programs with individuals requiring documentation for submission of prior authorizations
- Maintain file room contents for open and closed client physical records; prepare for and execute record destruction process per statute requirements.
- Pull and re-file physical charts upon request
- Maintain compliance with applicable Minnesota Statutes or rules, including but not limited to DHS Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act, and HIPAA
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED;
- 1 year of medical records experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication and customer service skill
- Ability to handle confidential material with integrity
- High attention to detail, ability to prioritize and respond to time sensitive tasks
Preferred:
- Experience in health information management and knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Previous experience in a healthcare or human services setting is a plus
