MISSION
The Pre-Operative Educator is responsible for contacting all patients with an upcoming surgical procedure to review an in-depth medical history and provide pre-surgical instructions. They must possess an enhanced attention to detail to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.
OUTCOMES
- Accurately and effectively utilize clinical knowledge to appropriately identify and assess patient history, medications, and potential risks associated with undergoing a surgical procedure in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
- Possess emotional intelligence to offer support and reassurance to patients prior to their procedure.
- Understand practice dynamics in order to efficiently direct patient questions for optimal response.
- Ensure optimal customer service by utilizing feedback provided by quality assurance reviews to enhance patient experience.
- Utilize departmental and interdeparmental resources to determine appropriate actions required in order to satisfy patient need.
- Adequately communicate through various electronic sources including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, EMR, email, and online chat platforms.
